TEARJERKERS Cast-aluminum Hot Rod Plate
A member recently spotted one of our old cast-alumunum hotrod plates on a teardrop at a show, and asked about getting one. The last time these were cast was probably about 8-10 years ago, and there were only a couple small batches made over the years. I have no idea how many exist, but I bought two and painted the one to hang in my workshop.
If there is enough interest, it might be time to have a new batch produced. There's a metal-casting company near me, Metalgod Casting, who I just met with at lunch. They would love to produce the plates for us, and showed me some examples of their work. The finish and quality of their work looks even better than the plates I have.
The new plates would measure the same as the old ones, about 5x9 x 1/4" thick. There is a fairly decent upfront cost to create the mold, so the final cost of these plates will vary with interest.
10 : $65 per plate
15 : $55 per plate
20 : $47.50 per plate
30+ : $42.50 per plate
S&H would be additional $7.50.
The prices above are for unpainted aluminum. There would be an option for a prefinished solid color background for additional $5. They apply the paint prior to surface finishing.
If I can get interest for at least 10 plates, I'll set up an online pre-order form and set a deadline for the pre-orders. No money will be collected until after pre-order closes.
