  • Taco Seasoning

My wife blows me away. Planning on having tacos some many months ago, we found we were out of those seasoning packets we usually used for tacos. My wife sat down and came up with an imitation seasoning that blows the purchased packets out of the water. What I really like is the lack of after taste from the ingredients used to keep these packets shelf stable for years.

We use this on all things "Mexican." I hope some of you will enjoy this mixture as much as I have.

    Taco Seasoning:

    1 Tablespoon chili powder
    ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
    ¼ teaspoon onion powder
    ¼ teaspoon crushed pepper flakes
    ¼ teaspoon dried oregano
    ½ teaspoon paprika
    1½ teaspoons ground cumin
    1 teaspoon sea salt
    1 teaspoon black pepper

Probably 1000% healthier than whatever's in the "store-bought" packet, as well.

I had the same thing happen; made a scratch mix, too. Except, add Mexican oregano instead of the usual one and a squirt of fresh lime juice after cooking/just before serving.
