Re: "...right as it's getting cold" That's the best time! Grab some firewood, a gas firepit, or a big throw and get out there! Make sure you wire in a 110V outlet for one of those small ceramic heaters. I have one in my home-built and it'll kick on four or five times a night (or until I guess I fall so deep asleep I just don't hear it!) and keeps the trailer toasty in the 30s F. Or dogs...as long as they don't snore....
