  • TearJerkers Etiquette

A Chapter Director reached out this week and asked us to post a reminder of the general guidelines that we ask of everyone at our Gatherings, and in the various TearJerker Facebook groups. This reminder wasn't spurred by anything that happened, but there is this thing coming up in November that people have strong opinions about, and we wanted to be a little proactive since there are still 28 gatherings on the schedule for this year.

We only ask a few things of our members:

    1. Have fun! That has always been the main purpose of this club! Enjoy yourselves!

    2. Respect others, and they'll respect you. If they don't, contact your Chapter Director, or reach out to an Administrator directly.

    3. Leave the politics at at home. We are an incredibly diverse group of individuals from different religions, with different viewpoints, and from all all walks of life. We all come to gatherings to escape the drama that follows modern politics. So please, do not bring up politics at gatherings, and if you typically fly a political flag at your campsite we ask that you keep it packed away during TearJerker events. These are not the time or place.

None of this is new - this is the way its always been since Todd started the group in 1997. So if any of this is too much to ask (especially the part about having fun), perhaps the TearJerkers just isn't a good fit for you.

For the 99.99% of you who can play nice with others, CHEERS TO YOU! We can't wait to see you around the campfire.
